The Hospital Senior Account Manager supports and advances formulary access, protocol and order set readiness, discharge pathway support, and demand generation across targeted hospital accounts. Drives sales by engaging Infectious Disease physicians and other hospital stakeholders (hospitalists, pharmacists, case management, discharge planners, and IDN decision makers such as CMO, Pharmacy Directors, and P&T Committee members).
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve and exceed sales targets by developing and executing an integrated territory business plan.
- Secure and translate hospital formulary wins and market access into consistent prescribing and utilization.
- Conduct clinical discussions supporting patient identification, treatment selection, IV-to-oral transition, discharge readiness, and readmission reduction.
- Collaborate with nurse navigators, discharge planners, case managers, and specialty pharmacy partners to support patient access and therapy continuity.
- Identify and address clinical, operational, behavioral, and process barriers impacting adoption.
- Optimize call metrics and customer coverage/frequency to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Deliver clinical brand presentations and conduct compliant educational/in-service/speaker programs.
- Analyze utilization trends and local market dynamics to identify opportunities and drive performance.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze effectiveness, and develop territory plans with the Regional Sales Director.
- Manage territory budget and complete administrative tasks; maintain compliance with corporate and industry policies.
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS from an accredited institution; valid driverβs license.
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/medical/biotech experience.
- 3+ years calling on hospitals/health systems.
- Experience with hospital decision processes, clinical pathways, formulary management, and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Travel up to 50% and lift/move up to 35 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Top-tier sales performance and product launch success; demand generation experience in hospitals.
- Anti-infective experience; expertise in account selling/complex sales; knowledge of health systems model and P&T/formulary processes.
- Experience engaging specialist physicians, hospitalists, pharmacists, and pharmacy leadership; cross-setting collaboration; data-driven business planning; adaptability; compliance; exceptional presentation/selling skills.
