The Hospital Senior Account Manager supports formulary access, protocol and order set readiness, discharge pathway support, and demand generation across targeted hospital accounts. Works with Infectious Disease physicians, hospitalists, pharmacists, case management/discharge teams, and IDN decision makers to drive sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet/exceed sales targets via an integrated territory business plan across assigned accounts.
- Manage hospital relationships and engage clinical/non-clinical stakeholders to understand needs.
- Provide scientific/clinical information and deliver sales presentations to appropriate healthcare professionals using a customer engagement model.
- Secure/translate formulary wins into consistent prescribing and utilization.
- Engage pharmacy/medical/operational stakeholders in clinical discussions (patient ID, treatment selection, IV-to-oral transition, discharge readiness, readmission reduction).
- Collaborate with nurse navigators, discharge planners, case managers, and specialty pharmacy partners.
- Identify/address barriers impacting adoption; optimize call metrics/coverage.
- Deliver clinical brand presentations; understand account delivery systems and stakeholder hierarchy.
- Analyze utilization trends and market dynamics; develop territory plans with leadership/support partners.
- Manage territory budget; complete required administrative tasks.
- Conduct educational programs/in-services/speaker programs; maintain compliance with policies.
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS; valid driverβs license.
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/medical/biotech industry experience.
- 3+ years calling on hospitals/health systems.
- Experience with hospital decision-making, clinical pathways, formulary management, antimicrobial stewardship.
- Travel up to 50%; ability to lift/move up to 35 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Top-tier sales record; product launch success.
- Demand generation success in hospitals; Anti-Infective experience.
- Account selling expertise; deep Health Systems model knowledge.
- Experience engaging specialist physicians/hospitalists/pharmacy leadership; cross-setting collaboration.
- Strong data analysis, business planning, adaptability, compliance, and presentation/selling skills.
