Role: The Hospital Senior Account Manager supports formulary access, protocol and order set readiness, discharge pathway support, and demand generation across targeted hospital accounts. Engages Infectious Disease physicians, hospitalists, pharmacists, case management, discharge planners, and key IDN decision makers (e.g., CMO, Pharmacy Directors, P&T Committee members) to drive sales.
Responsibilities:
- Meet/exceed sales objectives via an integrated territory business plan.
- Manage hospital relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.
- Provide scientific/clinical information in the disease state and approved product.
- Deliver compliant sales presentations to physicians, APPs, and other healthcare personnel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (e.g., Organized Provider Account Directors, Reimbursement Managers) to drive aligned execution.
- Drive formulary wins into consistent prescribing/utilization.
- Engage pharmacy/medical/operational stakeholders on patient identification, treatment selection, IV-to-oral transition, discharge readiness, and readmission reduction.
- Partner with nurse navigators, discharge planners, case managers, and specialty pharmacy to support access and therapy continuity.
- Identify and address barriers impacting product adoption.
- Optimize call coverage/frequency; analyze trends to find opportunities.
- Conduct educational programs and in-services.
- Provide marketing/territory performance feedback; manage territory budget; complete administrative tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS from an accredited institution.
- Valid driverβs license.
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/medical/biotech industry experience.
- 3+ years calling on hospitals/health systems.
- Hospital decision-making, clinical pathways, formulary management, and antimicrobial stewardship experience.
- Travel up to 50% and lift/move up to 35 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Top-tier sales performance; product launch success.
- Demand generation success in hospitals; Anti-Infective experience.
- Account selling experience; knowledge of health systems business model and stakeholders.
- Experience engaging specialists/hospitalists/pharmacy leadership; cross-setting collaboration.
- Data analysis for business planning; adaptability to market changes; strong compliance and presentation/selling skills.
