Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the legal strategy within Novartis Operations for Americas & the Mexico Operations Corporate Center (NOCC), contributing to Americas business strategy.
- Lead development and implementation of the legal strategy for the global RLT Business in close connection with RLT Business Owners; member of the RLT Leadership Team.
- Member of the Operations Legal Leadership Team; contribute to design and execution of the Legal strategy for Operations overall.
- Provide proactive, in-depth, business-focused legal leadership and counsel senior leaders on complex and sensitive legal/business issues.
- Counsel senior executives and business teams; support business-partner training for non-legal associates; lead or contribute to teams providing legal expertise.
- Manage and further develop a high-performing, diverse legal team; direct and coach lawyers.
- Lead regional (and RLT global) legal activities related to harmonization of standards, processes, and templates to simplify, improve, and reduce costs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws to provide strategic advice and foster compliance.
- Manage external law firms as needed; monitor legal spend and ensure cost-efficient solutions.
- Represent Novartis Operations in Network Transformation; support M&A and divestments within region.
- Manage potential disputes and dispute resolution for regional transactions, including with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and alliance partners.
- Develop and counsel on appropriate Novartis policies in the substantive area.

Key Performance Indicators:
- Establish and maintain an effective, efficient legal support structure and team for current and future Operations and RLT.
- Ensure effective and efficient execution of key Operations initiatives/projects in the region.
- Communicate, manage, and mitigate Operations legal risks with robust risk/legal assessments.

Essential Requirements:
- JD degree and bar membership.
- 20+ years of commercial legal experience in an international environment (in-house and/or at a law firm), with broad experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and industry-specific regulatory matters.
- 5+ years’ experience leading large, legally complex transactions/projects.
- Global cross-divisional experience in Novartis and/or a comparable organization.
- People leadership experience and skills.

Benefits & Rewards:
- Salary expected between $225,400 and $418,600 per year; performance-based cash incentive; potential eligibility for annual equity awards; US-based comprehensive benefits package; and time off.
