Purpose
An engineering professional who, working with little or no supervision, applies advanced scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete complex assignments related to one or more technical fields or disciplines. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.

Responsibilities
- Responsibilities of this engineering grade level inherently include and expand upon responsibilities established for lower engineering grade levels within technical consultant career track.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Corporate policies and procedures. Ensure quality and effectiveness of key results of major projects through sound design, early risk assessments, and fallback strategies. Understand potential consequences (defects and failure modes) of design changes to established processes. Mitigate risk using design, early risk assessments, and fallback strategies.
- Identify, plan, and conduct medium- to large-size projects across engineering disciplines requiring custom, risk-managed execution plans, investigations, and/or equipment. Make difficult decisions regarding priorities between projects. Responsible for achieving project financial targets in support of business objectives and life cycle costs.
- Serve as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs; advise management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

Qualifications
- Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence; desired 10+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience. Post-graduate education/degree desired and may contribute to years of experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in breadth and depth within and across disciplines.
- Career history marked by consistent technical contributions and accomplishments; significant contribution to product or process development or improvement through creative technical effort.
- Strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to work problems of complex scope involving multiple competing factors; exercises judgment and advises management on appropriate actions.
- Ability to interact well with diverse engineering groups and maintain strong relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Ability to listen to and understand othersโ€™ viewpoints and articulate oneโ€™s perspective tactfully and respectfully orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
- Interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
- Technical background in healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceutical, biologics, or similar industries (preferred).
- Demonstrated competency with financial systems and fiscal control.
