Responsibilities:
- Lead long-range planning, development, and execution of the Global SMA medical education strategy, tactics, and budget; advance scientific narratives across regions.
- Serve as Global medical expert for the SMA portfolio, guiding lifecycle management and evidence strategy across the treatment journey.
- Lead publication planning and KME/scientific engagement and education plans for the SMA franchise.
- Provide medical oversight across clinical development programs; lead scientific positioning and strategy.
- Own the neurofilament light chain (NfL) and biomarker narrative; align initiatives across functions and regions.
- Partner on global SMA evidence generation strategy (real-world evidence, biomarker development, registrational study support) with regional clinical experts and cross-functional teams.
- Present data at global medical affairs events; build relationships with external stakeholders.
- Act as global medical contact for key stakeholders and align processes, decision-making, tactics, and metrics.
- Oversee publications/scientific communications and Medical Information escalations; reinforce governance processes.
- Lead end-to-end planning/content for global SMA medical symposia; plan and deliver medical training tied to congress/readouts and manuscript data.
Qualifications (Required):
- MD, PhD, PharmD, or comparable advanced degree.
- 8+ years in pharmaceutical industry (regional/global preferred); relevant neuromuscular/rare disease clinical practice may substitute.
- Rare disease experience (preferably SMA/neuromuscular).
- Experience in medical education and evidence generation.
- Biomarker strategy and digital medical solutions expertise.
- Strong knowledge of global regulations relevant to Medical Affairs.
