General Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
- Primary POC between authorized treatment centers (ATCs) and internal cross-functional partners to support patient access, reimbursement, and operational readiness; triage barriers to internal experts.
- Support ATCs and referral networks with ongoing training/education before and after onboarding/activation to ensure order readiness across patient services and reimbursement pathways.
- Coordinate Vertex tasks tied to ATC goals/demands with cross-functional partners.
- Compliantly educate on Casgevy profile and patient journey per label and company policies.
- Build relationships with key site stakeholders to drive awareness of Casgevy.
- Develop/execute account and HCP engagement strategy for ATCs; track/report progress to KPIs and patient journey milestones.
- Collaborate to ensure timely access to critical solutions/support for HCP/account decision-makers.
- Own account planning and lead field team coordination; provide feedback on business trends, therapeutic landscape, issues, and opportunities.
- Maintain deep hematology expertise (SCD, TDT, HSCT).
- Serve as bridge to Key Thought Leaders via conference attendance.
- Communicate access/reimbursement principles (including CMMI), hospital coding, SP/SD differences, and pharmacy operations; escalate complex issues to the Access and Reimbursement team.
- Understand billing/coding guidance, claims submission, and appeals; initiate escalation appropriately.
- Operate independently; thrive in fast-changing environments; understand health systems for system-level planning and execution.
- Handle business information in compliance with applicable laws/regulations and company policies.
Required Education/Experience (and Preferred):
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in key account/sales/account management.
- Specialty biotech/device/lab/specialty sales (cell & gene therapy, hematology, transplant, oncology/immunology, rare disease) or clinical experience in SCD/BMT/cell & gene.
- Basic HIPAA compliance knowledge.
- Preferred: hospital finance, claims processing, and/or billing/coding (inpatient/outpatient) and CMMI basics.
- Knowledge of prior auth, denial management, specialty pharmacy acquisition, buy-and-bill, and IV infusion coding/reimbursement across sites.
- Strong understanding of buy-and-bill and specialty pharmacy networks, managed care, benefit design, and government payers.
- Valid driver’s license (in good standing).

- Travel up to all assigned coverage locations.
Pay Range:
- $160,000 - $240,000 (eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards; some roles may be eligible for overtime).
