Position Summary:
- Flex MSL provides on-demand and proactive field medical support, including backfilling temporary needs, expanding engagement, and covering an expanded group of KOLs.
- Provides credible, fair-balanced, science-driven medical information to support appropriate clinical use of Travere therapies and advance understanding of rare kidney diseases.
Top priorities: proactive scientific exchange with community nephrologists/APPs; on-demand MSL territory support within a designated region; medical project support.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct non-promotional, fair-balanced on-label scientific discussions; respond to unsolicited requests; escalate complex inquiries to Medical Information as needed; deliver medical presentations.
- Provide short-term KOL/institution/account coverage; maintain territory relationships and transition back to the MSL with updated territory plans.
- Deliver compliant 1:1 or small-group medical education (disease state, MOA, safety/REMS); stay current on literature and emerging data in Rare Kidney Disease.
- Provide scientific presence/logistical coordination at regional and national congresses.
- Document HCP insights, medical trends, and unmet needs; route high-value insights to Medical Strategy owners.
- Record interactions in CRM (e.g., Veeva) within 48 hours; follow medical/compliance guardrails.
- Contribute to planning, coordination, and implementation of medical projects.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Advanced degree strongly preferred (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA, NP); equivalent education + experience may be considered.
- 2+ years MSL experience in pharma/biotech.
- Strongly preferred: nephrology or rare disease experience, particularly IgAN or FSGS.
- Plus: experience supporting new product launches; KOLs, medical congresses, cross-functional matrix teams.
Additional Skills/Requirements:
- Strong scientific acumen; peer-to-peer dialogue with KOLs; excellent communication/presentation; ability to synthesize compliant balanced scientific information.
- Strategic thinking, collaboration, project management, ability to manage multiple priorities; proactive problem solver.
- Knowledge of FDA/PhRMA and industry compliance standards; CRM/Veeva proficiency; standard field reporting and virtual tools.
- Field-based; must live in territory; travel up to 60β80%.
