Role Summary
Finance Analyst or Finance Manager to join a biotech company, focusing on financial planning and analysis (FP&A), developing and maintaining operating models, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing actionable financial insights to leadership. Requires advanced financial modeling, strong Excel skills, and a biotech sector understanding.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve comprehensive operating and financial models to enable strategic decision-making.
- Perform ad hoc financial and scenario analyses to evaluate business performance, R&D investments, headcount planning, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
- Support the company’s annual budget process, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning activities.
- Prepare and deliver management reports, dashboards, and variance analyses, providing clear explanations of key drivers and emerging trends.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Commercial, Operations, and G&A teams to gather necessary inputs and facilitate the financial planning process.
- Design and implement tools and templates to optimize forecasting and reporting processes, utilizing advanced Excel techniques such as dynamic modeling, sensitivity analysis, and data visualization.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting, monitor burn rate, and conduct scenario modeling to support financing decisions and program prioritization.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. MBA or CPA qualification is advantageous.
- Required: Three to five years of experience in FP&A, financial modeling, or corporate finance, preferably in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
- Required: Outstanding skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling, including the ability to independently create flexible, driver-based models.
- Required: Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on detail and accuracy.
- Preferred: Experience with ERP or planning systems such as NetSuite, Adaptive, Planful, or similar platforms.
- Preferred: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data into clear and actionable insights.
- Preferred: Ability to operate in a fast-paced and changing biotech environment with rigor and agility.
