Field Director, Medical Science Liaisons - Midwest Region - U.S. Medical, Obesity and Related Conditions
Territory to include: MN, NE, KS, MI, WI, IL, IN

What You Will Do
Lead a regional team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) by managing performance and coaching direct reports; ensure compliant execution of field medical plans, strategy, and activities to advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities include:
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to align with corporate goals
- Coach and develop MSLs; evaluate performance and provide feedback
- Foster collaborative environment to promote retention and engagement
- Identify training needs and develop training plan/timeline
- Ensure compliance standards and timely completion of administrative responsibilities (CRM, expense reports, training modules)
- Lead effectively through change

Strategic Execution
- Partner with medical leadership to develop Field Medical strategy/tactics and Scientific Engagement Plans (SEPs) with success measures
- Elevate field medical insights to refine strategy
- Oversee peer-to-peer scientific engagement with Opinion Leaders, community HCPs, and Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs)
- Develop key account engagement strategies
- Guide education on clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to PHDMs
- Support MSLs in meeting goals and adapting to the evolving MSL role

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Represent team to senior leadership; articulate Field Medical impact
- Collaborate to ensure field observations inform Amgen strategies
- Support congress activities aligned to strategy
- Participate/lead project teams supporting Field Medical strategies
- Model โ€œOne Amgenโ€ collaboration between field medical and field commercial

What We Expect Of You
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 4 years Medical Affairs
OR Masterโ€™s + 8 years Medical Affairs
OR Bachelorโ€™s + 10 years Medical Affairs
- 4 years managerial experience directly managing people and/or leading teams/projects/programs or directing resource allocation

Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)
- 7+ years industry Scientific/Medical Affairs (biotech/pharma)
- 7+ years clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research (postdoctoral training allowed)
- 3+ years MSL role in biotech/pharma; current Scientific/Medical Affairs experience
- 3 years managerial experience directly managing people (as described above)
- Obesity and Related Conditions expertise
