General Summary:
Executive Medical Director, Global Medical Lead (GML), Painโleads global medical strategy, Integrated Medical Plan development/execution, and post-approval evidence generation for designated disease area(s). Leads the global medical affairs team and represents Medical Affairs on global cross-functional teams (e.g., DST).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Medical Strategy: Develop/implement Integrated Medical Plans (medical strategy, tactics, publications, congress, post-approval evidence generation) with Clinical Development, HEOR, RWE, Medical Writing; align strategy to organizational/DST priorities; define/track medical KPIs; drive root-cause problem solving; manage global DA budget and resource allocation.
- Scientific Excellence: Serve as product/disease expert and primary contact; lead peer-reviewed publications/congress presentations; disseminate new data and translate into plans; lead scientific communications/materials; ensure medical review of brand/global content per SOPs.
- External Partnerships: Represent at scientific/medical forums; engage thought leaders.
- Medical Communication: Tailor communications; deliver external presentations; support training; interpret clinical and published data.
- Collaboration: Own global go-to-market medical partnership; chair GMAT and deliverables; provide Medical Affairs leadership to Launch/brand teams; represent Medical Affairs in label discussions; support policy/access/advocacy/communications.
- Evidence & Access: Lead life cycle management and integrated evidence generation; may act as medical monitor; oversee ISS and MAP activities.
- People Management: Recruit/develop/coaching team; address skill gaps; run talent/performance/IDPs.
- Compliance: Ensure medical activity compliance (GCP/ICH/SOPs); enable AE reporting; manage safety communications.
Education & Experience:
- MD/PhD/PharmD or advanced life sciences degree required.
- Typically 15 yearsโ experience + 7 years supervisory/management (or equivalent).
- 6+ years leadership in medical affairs and/or clinical development (global + country/region desired).
- 2+ years disease-area industry experience.
Pay/Benefits (as stated): $328,000โ$492,000; eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards; benefits include medical/dental/vision, paid time off, educational assistance/student loan repayment, commuting subsidy, charitable matching, 401(k).
Flex Designation: Hybrid-eligible (remote up to two days/week) or On-site (five days/week on-site with ad hoc flexibility).
