Position summary:
The Executive Director, Scientific Communications provides portfolio-level strategic leadership and governance for Travereβs scientific communications function, ensuring publications, medical education, congress planning, and scientific content align to Global Medical Affairs (GMA) medical objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead strategy and integration of scientific communications across publications, medical education, and congress planning aligned to lifecycle and regulatory priorities.
- Establish and maintain a multi-year scientific communications plan aligned to pipeline milestones, label expansions, and evidence generation.
- Ensure consistent scientific positioning and narrative alignment across indications.
- Define digital dissemination approach, modular content strategy, and responsible AI-assisted workflows.
- Own scientific communications budget (planning, forecasting, expenditure tracking across deliverables/partners).
- Direct publication sequencing/prioritization; set framework for congress strategy and medical education alignment to narrative.
- Integrate medical education program (grants strategy, areas of interest, CME/IME compliance).
- Own enterprise content strategy (creation, review, versioning/repurposing; version control, reduced duplication).
- Partner cross-functionally (Therapeutic Areas, Market Access, Regulatory, Biometrics, Commercial) to translate evidence into dissemination plans.
- Lead and develop the Scientific Communications team; manage resource allocation; build governance/systems for new assets.
- Engage KOLs/academic collaborators in publication steering, advisory, and congress session development; represent Travere in scientific forums.
Education/Experience/Requirements:
- PharmD, PhD, or MD (or equivalent education + applicable experience).
- 12+ years in scientific communications or medical affairs with portfolio-level leadership across multiple assets (preferably rare diseases or nephrology).
- Breadth across publications, medical education, and congress strategy.
- Travel: ~30% domestically/internationally; onsite in San Diego.
