Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for leading, defining, and implementing the Global Indirect Category strategy to serve global and regional business needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on Indirect Categories (Professional Services, IT, Travel & Meetings, HR) and align category priorities with Procurement and stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations, supplier management activities, and stakeholder engagement for assigned Indirect Categories.
- Independently drive value via cost savings, cash flow improvement, and other efficiencies from category management.
- Represent Global Procurement in organizational decisions impacting short- and long-term success, efficiency, growth, and results.
- Apply knowledge of efficient global procurement organizations/processes in biopharmaceutical industry to drive improvements aligned with corporate priorities.
- Lead category activities to ensure compliance with appropriate GxPs and other applicable regulations.
- Negotiate contract terms/conditions in consultation with the Law department.
- Manage a team of professional-level employees performing category management.
- Provide coaching/guidance for performance and career development to direct reports.
- Use data to drive decision-making for category projects.
- Coach procurement technical skills across the Global Procurement team.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus progressive procurement experience (preferably substantial Pharma/BioPharma experience).
- Experience leading global category teams, processes, and suppliers across a breadth of categories.
- Ability to build influential relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in Indirect/related categories through sourcing, negotiations, contracting, and supplier relationship management.
- Expert knowledge of rates, unit costs, and costing structures to enable optimal negotiations.
- Use external data sources, market information, and supplier engagement to improve knowledge of supply market dynamics.
- Experience operating with integrity, focus, and clarity in ambiguity to drive change.
- Demonstrated success leading global supply market evaluation using market intelligence, risk, compliance, and financial assessment tools.
- Primary relationship manager to supplier global leadership team.
- Experience leading manager-level professionals in a multinational firm (performance reviews, annual objectives, coaching, developing direct reports).
- Working knowledge of sourcing/contracting tools, ERPs, and eRFx systems preferred (Oracle, Zycus, Ariba, other).
- Ability to leverage Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for communicating, presenting, and analysis.
