Executive Director of Biostatistics for Medical Affairs (Reporting to the Head of Biometrics)

Responsibilities
- Provide statistical oversight of biostatisticians supporting Medical Affairs and biostatistics work by internal biostatisticians and external consultants.
- Provide strategic statistical input for Medical Affairs studies (including observational studies) and evidence-generation activities with RWE and HEOR.
- Oversee and complete technical/operational statistical activities by managing internal/external resources.
- Build, develop, and lead the Medical Affairs Biostatistics team (structure, staffing plans, capability development, operating model).
- Anticipate projects and develop staffing plans; assign/manage resources by priorities and business strategy.
- Negotiate project timelines across programs; manage limited resources to deliver quality outputs on time.
- Develop and ensure adherence to SOPs, BEDs, and departmental standards for Medical Affairs studies, statistical methodology, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Champion development/training of decision-enabled statistical tools; explore efficient and innovative statistical approaches.
- Ensure scientific integrity and maintain rigorous statistical standards.
- Provide expectations, delegation, decision-making, and communication framework; deliver constructive feedback.
- Develop talent action plans for retention and capability gaps; coordinate training/managerial activities with Biometrics leadership; support compliance/audit readiness as applicable.
- Provide leadership support beyond the core Medical Affairs portfolio as needs evolve.

Capabilities and Skills
- Excellent verbal/written communication; negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth drug development knowledge; strong commitment to GCP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven people leadership: supervise team leads; delegate, coach, and develop talent.
- Strong judgment/problem-solving; evidence-based decisions with limited information.
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive process/infrastructure improvements.
- Ability to advise/influence senior leadership on biostatistics strategies; use competitive intelligence.
- Experience in Medical Affairs and/or observational studies/evidence generation preferred.

Qualifications
- PhD and 12 years’ experience.
- Preferred: PhD in Biostatistics (or equivalent) and 16+ years industry experience.

Benefits
- Salary range: $302,005.00 - $390,830.00. May include discretionary bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
