This role is field-based and will require travel throughout the Atlantic Coast District Territory. Candidates should reside within a reasonable distance from Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Richmond, VA, Washington DC, or Baltimore, MD.
The District Manager, Eye Care Surgical (Xen) is responsible for leading a team to promote AbbVie’s Xen Gel stent within the refractory glaucoma market. Oversees district sales results; interviewing, selection, and development of Account Consultants; and customer-facing activities for developing and maintaining relationships with strict adherence to compliance principles.
Responsibilities
- Consistently attain growth and market share goals while managing the district operation within expense guidelines.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, and manage performance of assigned district team; coach and counsel to build selling and account management skills.
- Lead development and succession planning to maximize results.
- Lead sales direction across the region; execute marketing plans; serve as area expert on product strategy and initiatives.
- Proactively identify, develop, and manage EC relationships with physicians, practices, and/or accounts; implement account management plans and optimize resources.
- Develop and implement district procedures and practices to achieve objectives.
- Lead and motivate others to attain district goals.
- Lead needs-based account selling; lead KOL promotional programs and key account management.
- Provide leadership to support sales and meet or exceed district business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; MBA preferred.
- 5–7+ years healthcare, buy-and-bill, or device sales experience; sales leadership experience required.
- Business analysis and planning skills; excellent judgment and decision-making.
- Ability to influence without authority; ability to articulate scientific aspects of treatments/therapeutic areas.
- Proven ability to provide candid, effective feedback; develop talent.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
- Travel minimum 75%; overnight attendance at training events and sales meetings.
- Ability to drive personal or company vehicle.
- Satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities in territory (e.g., background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, state/city licenses).
