The District Business Manager (DBM), Dermatology reports to the Regional Director, Dermatology, and is responsible for hiring, leading, developing, and retaining Dermatology Sales Representatives in the assigned district. Ensures strong, consistent sales performance that exceeds forecast/expectations and maintains compliance with pharmaceutical promotion policies.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and measure strategic business plans to meet sales objectives per company/regulatory standards.
- Meet or exceed sales goals for designated products/portfolio through direct management of sales representatives; provide performance updates as needed.
- Join face-to-face customer sales calls with reps ~4 days/week.
- Plan/execute district sales meetings; conduct performance evaluations; participate in company events/meetings.
- Recruit, select, and train top-performing sales representatives; support coaching/metric review.
- Lead coaching and career development plans for representatives.
- Analyze sales data/performance/trends; formulate strategies to drive product demand and revenue.
- Monitor competitor activity/products; provide progress updates; respond to district business information requests.
- Identify marketplace opportunities; share best practices across the organization.
- Set positive team norms aligned to culture/behaviors and develop team skills.
- Monitor/control district expenditures to meet budget.
- Liaison between district sales management and other departments (HR, Marketing, Finance).
- Build and maintain relationships with key HCPs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree required; Masterโs degree/advanced certifications a plus (science/clinical preferred).
- 7+ years pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical experience, including 3 years sales leadership/management; Dermatology market strongly preferred.
- Proven record hiring/coaching/developing/retaining top talent; ability to lead team performance.
- Integrity-focused success as a District Sales Manager in complex markets.
- Strong understanding of payer/reimbursement challenges (government programs, managed care, evolving healthcare systems).
- Proven ability building physician/key customer relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal departments.
- Extensive travel; regular overnight travel may be required. Valid driving license.
District
- Ohio Valley Market (Nashville, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh).
Travel Requirements: 50%.
