Key Responsibilities:
- Shape AbbVieโs enterprise policy strategy on Medicare and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), including drug price negotiation, inflation rebates, and Part D redesign/implementation.
- Serve as senior strategic advisor to leadership on IRA and Medicare policy; provide forward-looking analysis, scenario planning, and recommendations.
- Identify and assess emerging federal policy risks and opportunities (legislative, regulatory, administrative, judicial) and develop proactive strategies.
- Evaluate policy impacts on business, portfolio, and patient access; translate insights into guidance for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Inform enterprise/portfolio planning by anticipating downstream IRA and evolving Medicare effects on pipeline and commercial strategy.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across Government Affairs, Market Access, Pricing, Legal, Commercial, and Finance.
- Lead external engagement with senior federal policymakers, Congress, CMS, HHS, and relevant agencies on Medicare and drug pricing reform.
- Cultivate high-level relationships across government, industry, and the policy community.
- Represent AbbVie at senior policy forums and regulatory engagements.
- Lead development of senior-audience policy materials (e.g., white papers, comment letters, executive briefings) and maintain policy narratives/messaging frameworks.
Qualifications:
- 12+ yearsโ experience in health policy/government affairs (or related), with senior/influential roles.
- Recognized expertise in Medicare Parts B and D and federal drug pricing reform, including deep IRA knowledge.
- Significant experience in federal government (CMS/HHS/Congress), biopharmaceutical industry, or both; ability to shape federal policy outcomes.
- High-level relationships across government/industry/policy community.
- Proven ability to develop/execute sophisticated policy strategies integrating political, regulatory, and business factors.
- Exceptional executive presence; strong written/verbal communication.
- Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization.
- Domestic travel up to ~20%.
