Responsibilities:
- Influence changes to state laws and regulations in designated states to align with GSK priorities, emphasizing vaccines and public health.
- Lobby and advocate with patient advocacy groups, health professional societies, State Departments of Health, and trade associations.
- Provide strategic leadership before state governments; serve as registered lobbyist in state legislatures and executive branch agencies; manage senior executive engagement with government officials and key business groups.
- Influence state legislation/regulation affecting GSK in Oncology, Vaccines, Specialty, Respiratory, and HIV (prevention emphasis).
- Set annual legislative/policy objectives with Government Affairs management.
- Maintain knowledge of state policies impacting GSK (access/reimbursement, sales/marketing restrictions, public health initiatives; business/tax policies).
- Manage contract lobbyists/consultants; ensure compliance with GSK rules/values.
- Build legislative coalitions; identify opportunities/risks impacting GSK.
- Engage industry trade associations and build alliances with patient advocacy groups, health professional orgs, and business associations; participate in matrix teams/task forces.
- Represent the GSK Employees Political Action Committee (PAC).

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7+ years in government/government relations; familiarity with Northeastern U.S. political/policy processes.
- Strong verbal/written communication; summarize complex information concisely.
- Experience building relationships; work with internal/external stakeholders in a values-compliant manner.
- ~50% travel within the geographic footprint.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct lobbying; familiarity with patient advocacy groups, Departments of Health, and provider organizations.
- Existing relationships with NY/NJ policy/legislative leaders.
- Health care policy exposure (public health emphasis).
- Expertise building alliances/coalitions.

Benefits/Compensation:
- Base salary $171,000–$285,000 (plus annual bonus and eligibility for share-based long-term incentive); health care/insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
