Position: Senior Director – Osteoporosis, Women’s Health (Boston, MA or Indianapolis, IN)

Position Summary
- Scientific/strategic leader for osteoporosis preclinical discovery; define, implement, and evolve Lilly’s preclinical discovery strategy.
- Drive integration of human biology, translational science, and preclinical models from target identification through early clinical translation, using decision-enabling data.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead an innovative lab to identify/validate osteoporosis targets/pathways.
- Define preclinical discovery strategy (target discovery/validation/prioritization frameworks, experimental approaches, decision criteria).
- Drive portfolio prioritization (differentiation, risk, regulatory/clinical alignment).
- Build/evolve preclinical and translational capabilities (internal/external); shape external collaborations (academia, CROs, BD).
- Lead osteoporosis discovery programs and end-to-end experimental strategies (in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo).
- Define translational approaches (biomarkers, PK/PD) and ensure clinical differentiation (bone density, bone strength, microarchitecture).
- Serve as biology lead on cross-functional teams; influence decisions to accelerate progression.
- Lead collaborations; maintain scientific leadership through publications/presentations.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop scientists.

Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant subject area.
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience (academia/industry/related).

Additional Preferences
- Deep osteoporosis/skeletal biology expertise (bone remodeling) and post-doc plus 10 years experience.
- Track record in drug discovery (target to preclinical development) and shaping discovery strategy/portfolio decisions.
- Strong in vitro/ex vivo/in vivo osteoporosis models; experience building capabilities/platforms/external collaborations.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and scientific communication; passion for women’s health unmet needs.
