Role Summary
Director, R&D Data Science, MDM Products. Primary location Titusville, NJ; open to Spring House, PA or Cambridge, MA. Up to 25% travel.
Responsibilities
- End-to-End Product Mastering Strategy: Define and execute a mastering strategy covering the full product lifecycle from discovery compounds to commercial brand names; ensure a single, authoritative source of truth for all product-related master data; identify gaps and opportunities for automation and standards alignment.
- Ontology & Knowledge Graph Development: Lead development and governance of a Product Ontology linking compounds, formulations, regulatory identifiers, and brand entities; apply knowledge graph technologies across TD, PSTS, PTDS, clinical, regulatory, and commercial domains; align models with metadata standards.
- Governance & Standards: Establish stewardship and governance models for product master data; define and enforce standards for hierarchies, nomenclature, and lifecycle transitions; partner with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial.
- Integration & Collaboration: Collaborate with Knowledge Management, Data Products, and Metadata/Cataloging teams; work with IT to evaluate enabling technologies for ontology and graph-based integration; align with other MDM domains for cross-domain consistency.
- Quality, Performance & Communication: Define and track KPIs for product master data quality and traceability; provide governance dashboards and reports; communicate vision and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Strategic Impact: Ensure product-related data is connected across the R&D-to-Commercial lifecycle; leverage ontology-driven governance and knowledge graphs to accelerate discovery, support regulatory submissions, ensure compliance, and strengthen commercial readiness.
Qualifications
- Education: Masterβs or PhD in life sciences, regulatory sciences, informatics, data science, or related field.
- Skills & Expertise:
- 8+ years in pharma/biotech R&D or commercial functions with product lifecycle and regulatory data exposure.
- Expertise in master data management, ontology development, and knowledge graph applications.
- Proven ability to integrate product data across discovery, development, clinical, regulatory, and commercial domains.
- Strong understanding of product data standards; hands-on with metadata management, ontologies, and graph-based integration technologies.
- Ability to connect scientific, regulatory, and commercial perspectives into a unified product mastering framework.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills; influence adoption of product mastering practices globally.
