Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement strategic objectives for Purification and Analytical Development (in partnership with the executive team).
- Lead operational units; align with organizational vision and cascade a clear functional strategy.
- Oversee the design and execution of purification processes for soluble and membrane-bound proteins.
- Oversee analytical method development for characterization of therapeutic proteins using techniques such as ELISA, BLI, HPLC, and MS.
- Lead troubleshooting and adoption of new technologies for purification and analytical support.
- Train and empower scientists for hands-on operation and maintenance of critical instrumentation.
- Integrate purification and analytical strategies to support drug discovery, lead/drug candidate selection, antibody characterization, and tech transfers.
- Design, implement, and oversee assessment of therapeutic protein developability.
- Develop and integrate computational, biophysical, and experimental workflows to mitigate risks (e.g., stability, immunogenicity, expression).
- Ensure accurate documentation (SOPs, technical reports, method validations) meeting quality standards.
- Review and interpret analytical results to assess protein purity, impurities, and process clearance.
- Champion use of ELN, LIMS, UNICORN, Benchling, SoftMax Pro, JMP, and related platforms for data integrity and tracking.
- Support tech transfer and regulatory submission packages as needed.
- Represent Purification & Analytical Development to senior leadership/external partners; communicate cross-functionally.
Qualifications:
- PhD with 10+ years, or MS with 12+ years progressive industry experience in drug discovery & analytical science (or related), with demonstrated leadership through scale, complexity, and ambiguity.
- Demonstrated mastery of purification, analytical development, and developability assessment, with a track record influencing functional/organizational strategy.
- Deep familiarity with the competitive landscape and differentiation.
