Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree required; Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MD, or equivalent) preferred
- 8–12+ years of experience in biopharma strategy, portfolio strategy, new product planning, consulting, or related fields
- Experience supporting portfolio decision-making and/or corporate strategic planning
- Strong understanding of drug development, clinical strategy, and commercialization fundamentals
- Experience with valuation methodologies (e.g., rNPV) and scenario analysis
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and operate effectively in a matrixed organization
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Job Responsibilities
- Enterprise Strategic Planning: Lead annual strategic planning and development of long-range plan; translate portfolio insights into enterprise strategy (growth priorities, resource allocation); under guidance of SVP, Business Development, lead long-term strategic narratives for internal/external stakeholders; partner with Finance to align strategy/portfolio decisions with financial planning.
- Portfolio Strategy & Prioritization: Develop/maintain portfolio prioritization frameworks; conduct risk-adjusted value assessments (e.g., rNPV, scenario modeling); partner with Clinical and Regulatory to shape development strategies (indication selection and sequencing).
- Strategic Analysis & Decision Support: Lead analyses framing/ driving pipeline and strategic decisions (scenario planning, trade-offs); synthesize cross-functional inputs into actionable recommendations; prepare materials for Executive Team and Board-level discussions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Clinical, Commercial, Regulatory, and Finance for integrated decision-making; incorporate market/competitive dynamics and patient considerations; foster cross-functional alignment in a matrixed environment.
- Portfolio Governance & Process: Support portfolio governance processes (portfolio reviews, decision forums); ensure consistency, transparency, rigor in portfolio analyses/recommendations; support lifecycle strategy (indication expansion and sequencing); identify portfolio gaps and inform business development priorities.
