Medical Affairs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide insights into development and implementation of the Medical Affairs strategy to support successful launch of rare disease products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, commercial, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment on pre- and post-launch activities.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute Medical Affairs strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Drive operational efficiency by streamlining Medical Affairs processes, workflows, and systems.
- Enhance/oversee metrics and KPIs for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain governance frameworks to support compliance, quality, and risk management.
- Support Medical Affairs systems and technology roadmap; assess and implement future technologies.
- Partner with IT and Finance to ensure project plans align with business objectives and are tracked to budget.
- Liaise between Medical Affairs and other functions (Commercial, Development, Manufacturing) to coordinate execution.
- Oversee development and dissemination of scientifically accurate, compliant medical content (publications, slide decks, digital assets).
- Collate actionable MSL field insights to inform medical and commercial strategies.
- Guide creation of medical education and training materials.
- Oversee strategic initiatives, manage cross-functional project teams, and track progress via dashboards/reporting.
- Coordinate with external vendors/agencies supporting medical communications and publications.
- Co-develop performance metrics and coach to optimize MSL impact on scientific exchange and KOL engagement.
- Develop/maintain KOL relationships and facilitate scientific exchange/education.
- Identify/collaborate with external experts for advisory boards, symposia, and scientific meetings.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years medical affairs leadership in biopharma; rare disease preferred; BS in life science minimum; MS/PhD/MBA preferred.
- Proven medical affairs leadership with successful product launches; experience in medical communications and KOL engagement.
- Strong leadership and project management experience.
- Exceptional communication/interpersonal skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of rare disease therapeutic areas and related regulatory requirements.
- Experience designing/executing advisory boards, symposia, or investigator-initiated studies.
- Familiarity with HEOR to support value messaging.
- Demonstrated ability to build external stakeholder relationships.
