Job Description
- Player-coach Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director for Plastics & Regenerative Medicine: provide leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operational management of a 6-person MSL team while serving as primary MSL for a small designated territory (geography TBD).
- Ensure team staffing, training (therapeutic/functional), and execution of medical plans; develop robust stakeholder engagement plans aligned to Brand strategy and medical objectives.
- Oversee execution of MSL activities; ensure high scientific quality of EE/HCP engagements and coordination with in-field team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop/implement scientific interaction plans for on-market and pipeline products; analyze clinical/market trends to support business objectives.
- Participate in Brand Team Meetings; ensure use of technology (CRM, virtual tools, P2P) and report MSL metrics/insights.
- Identify opportunities where MSL enhances business results.
- Manage MSL team performance and ensure compliance with national/local guidelines and company policies.
- Coach MSLs on engagement planning, challenger scientific interactions, scientific storytelling, study engagement, medical info inquiries, data capture/reporting, and coordination.
- Conduct field co-rides and 1:1s; manage workload/resources.
- Coordinate with other in-field teams; drive recruitment, onboarding, and sales training support.
- Drive field readiness (including OR certifications), escalate gaps, manage tools/vendor contracting.
- Stay current on therapeutic area narratives and study data; manage expenses/administration for the MSL team.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in health sciences/clinical discipline (preferred doctorate: PharmD, MD/DO, PhD).
- 5+ years clinical/scientific/research/pharma experience with at least 2 years as an MSL.
- Strong pharmaceutical/Medical Affairs knowledge; prior line management strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication/presentation; cross-functional collaboration; proven success managing multiple projects and challenging personnel issues.
- Travel ~50–60%.
- OR/surgical suite experience and familiarity with credentialing/certification strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational/administrative responsibilities alongside field engagement.
