Medical Affairs
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operational management of a 6-person MSL team; maintain active field presence as the primary MSL for a small, dedicated territory (geography TBD).
- Ensure staffing, training (therapeutic and functional), and role clarity for execution of medical plans; develop robust MSL stakeholder engagement plans aligned to Brand strategy and medical objectives.
- Execute all MSL activities; ensure scientific engagements with external experts (EEs) and HCPs are high scientific quality and coordinated with other in-field teams.
- Establish productive team environment; provide regular coaching/feedback and performance management, including professional growth and development plans.
- Develop and implement scientific interaction plans for on-market and pipeline products; analyze clinical and market trends to support business objectives.
- Participate in Brand Team Meetings; monitor/report MSL metrics; ensure appropriate use of technology (CRM, virtual engagement tools, P2P).
- Coach MSLs on engagement planning, Challenger interactions, scientific storytelling, study engagement, medical information responses, and data capture/reporting.
- Conduct field co-rides and 1:1s; coordinate medical activities with in-field plans.
- Drive recruitment, onboarding, and training for MSLs; support internal stakeholders (e.g., sales training).
- Drive field readiness, including OR certification/credentialing logistics; oversee MSL tool management and vendor contracting.
- Manage team financial/administrative responsibilities (e.g., expense approvals) to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in health sciences/clinical discipline required; preferred doctorate (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD).
- Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical environment and Medical Affairs role.
- 5+ years relevant experience; at least 2 years as an MSL.
- Strongly preferred prior line management of field-based MSL team; player-coach/working manager experience advantageous.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (local language and English preferred).
- Proven success managing multiple projects; cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience managing/resolving challenging personnel issues.
- Travel 50–60%.
- Strongly preferred OR/surgical suite experience and familiarity with credentialing/OR certification processes.
