Medical Affairs
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a 6-person MSL team (staffing, training, expectations) while serving as primary MSL for a small designated territory (exact geography TBD).
- Ensure robust MSL stakeholder engagement plans aligned to Brand strategy and medical objectives; execute high-quality scientific engagements with EEs/HCPs.
- Provide field leadership as player-coach; maintain active KOL/HCP engagement to stay close to science and market dynamics.
- Develop and implement scientific interaction plans for on-market and pipeline products; analyze clinical/market trends to support business objectives.
- Participate in Brand Team meetings; communicate MSL metrics and insights; ensure appropriate use of technology (CRM, virtual tools, P2P).
- Coach MSLs on engagement planning, scientific storytelling, study engagement, medical information responses, data capture/reporting, and coordination with other in-field teams.
- Conduct field co-rides and 1:1s; performance management, objective setting, and reviews.
- Recruit/replace MSLs; onboard and train new MSLs; provide scientific support/training to internal stakeholders (e.g., sales).
- Drive field readiness, including OR credentialing/certifications, tools/resources, and operational logistics.
- Manage financial/administrative activities (expense approvals) to ensure compliance.
- Serve as primary MSL for territory: maintain KOL/HCP engagement and model best-in-class field practices.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in health sciences/clinical discipline required; preferred doctorate (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD).
- Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical environment and Medical Affairs role.
- 5+ years clinical/scientific/research/pharma experience; at least 2 years as an MSL.
- Strong line management experience preferred; player-coach/working manager experience advantageous.
- Excellent written/spoken communication and presentation skills (local language and English preferred).
- Proven success managing multiple projects; strong cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience managing/resolving challenging personnel issues.
- Travel 50β60%.
Preferred:
- Experience with OR/surgical suite environments and credentialing/OR certification processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational/administrative responsibilities alongside field engagement.
