The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director (Plastics & Regenerative Medicine) is a player-coach role leading a 6-person MSL team and maintaining active field presence as the primary MSL for a small designated territory (geography TBD).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement scientific interaction plans for on-market and pipeline products; provide lifecycle scientific support and analyze clinical/market trends.
- Participate in Brand Team Meetings; ensure field medical voice, report MSL metrics, and leverage technology (CRM, virtual tools, P2P).
- Analyze business needs to identify opportunities where MSL function enhances business results.
- Manage team performance aligned to Brand/Medical strategies and comply with national/local guidelines and company policies.
- Coach MSLs on engagement planning; ensure high-quality EE/HCP interactions (scientific content/storytelling); support medical information inquiries; oversee data capture/reporting; set objectives and conduct performance reviews.
- Monitor team workload and resource needs; manage staffing, training, and onboarding.
- Lead/co-lead field co-rides and 1:1s; ensure integration with other in-field teams.
- Drive OR readiness (certifications, logistics, tool management, vendor contracting as needed) and maintain up-to-date therapeutic/scientific knowledge.
- Oversee financial/administrative management for the MSL team (expense report review/approval).
- Serve as primary MSL for the territory with active KOL/HCP engagement.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in health sciences/clinical discipline required (preferred doctorate: PharmD, MD/DO, PhD).
- Solid pharmaceutical/Medical Affairs knowledge.
- 5+ years clinical/scientific/research or pharma experience, including 2+ years as an MSL.
- Strong preference for prior line management; player-coach/working manager experience advantage.
- Excellent written/spoken communication and presentation skills (local language and English preferred).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, work cross-functionally, and handle personnel issues.
- Travel regularly (~50–60%).
Preferred
- Experience with OR/surgical suite environments; credentialing/OR certification processes.
