Medical Affairs
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operational management of a 6-person Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team while maintaining active field presence as the primary MSL for a small, dedicated territory (geography TBD).
- Ensure MSL stakeholder engagement plans are robust, scientific, and aligned to Brand strategy and medical objectives; execute all MSL activities with high scientific quality.
- Develop and implement scientific interaction plans for Plastics & Regenerative Medicine (on-market and pipeline), conduct analysis of clinical and market trends, and support lifecycle planning/execution.
- Participate in Brand Team Meetings; contribute field medical insights and ensure MSLs use required technologies (CRM, virtual engagement tools, P2P platforms).
- Analyze business needs with Infield/Brand teams to identify opportunities where MSL enhances business results.
- Coach MSLs on engagement planning, scientific interactions (Challenger), scientific storytelling, study engagement, medical information responses, data capture/reporting, and coordination with other teams; set objectives and conduct performance reviews.
- Monitor workload/resources, ensure compliance with national/local guidelines and company policies.
- Conduct regular field co-rides and 1:1s; drive coordination with other in-field teams.
- Recruit, onboard, and train MSLs; provide scientific support/training to internal stakeholders (e.g., sales training).
- Drive field readiness, manage OR certifications (if applicable), resolve tool/resource gaps, oversee operational logistics (tools, vendor contracting).
- Stay current on therapeutic area narratives and key study data.
- Manage MSL team financial/administrative responsibilities (e.g., expense approvals, vendor contracting).
- Serve as primary MSL for territory with active KOL/HCP engagement and model best-in-class practices.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in health sciences or clinical discipline required; preferred Doctorate (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD).
- Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical environment and Medical Affairs role.
- 5+ years clinical/scientific/research/pharma experience; at least 2 years as an MSL.
- Strongly preferred: line management experience with field-based MSL teams; player-coach/working manager experience preferred.
- Excellent communication/presentation skills (local language and English preferred).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work cross-functionally; manage challenging personnel issues.
- Travel regularly (approx. 50–60%).
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience with OR/surgical suite environments; familiarity with credentialing/OR certification processes.
