Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director (Plastics & Regenerative Medicine) – player-coach role responsible for leading, coaching, and operating a 6-person MSL team and serving as the primary MSL for a small, dedicated territory (geography TBD).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement scientific interaction plans for on-market and pipeline products; provide field scientific support across the product lifecycle; analyze clinical/market trends to support business objectives.
- Participate in Brand Team Meetings; ensure field medical voice is represented; monitor/report MSL metrics; ensure use of technology (CRM, virtual engagement tools, P2P).
- Identify opportunities where MSL function enhances business results.
- Manage team performance aligned to Brand/Medical strategy and ensure compliance with national/local guidelines and company policies.
- Coach MSLs on engagement planning and Challenger-quality scientific interactions/storytelling; support clinical study engagement, medical information inquiries, data capture/reporting, and coordination with other in-field teams.
- Monitor team workload/resource needs; communicate MSL outcomes to Affiliate Medical and Brand Teams.
- Conduct field co-rides and 1:1s; observe scientific exchanges, OR-based interactions, and KOL engagements.
- Coordinate with other in-field teams; drive recruitment, onboarding, and training; provide scientific support/training to internal stakeholders (e.g., sales).
- Drive field readiness including OR certifications, tool management, and vendor contracting; maintain current therapeutic/clinical knowledge.
- Manage MSL financial/administrative responsibilities (expense approvals, operational logistics).
- Serve as primary MSL for designated territory with active KOL/HCP engagement.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in health sciences/clinical discipline required; preferred doctorate (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD).
- Solid knowledge of pharma environment and Medical Affairs role.
- 5+ years clinical/scientific/research or pharma industry experience; at least 2 years as an MSL.
- Prior line management of field-based MSL team strongly preferred; player-coach/working manager experience advantageous.
- Excellent communication/presentation skills (local language and English preferred).
- Proven success managing multiple projects; cross-functional collaboration; challenging personnel issue resolution.
- Ability to travel ~50–60%.

- Experience with OR/surgical suite environments; familiarity with credentialing/OR certification processes.
