Director, Medical Portfolio Lead β Pain, U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Work with HQ Commercial colleagues as part of a cross-functional team to develop overarching strategy.
- Define US Medical Objectives, Strategies, Tactics, Metrics, and Targets in alignment with company objectives, independent from commercial influence.
- Perform independent asset-/disease-state medical strategic planning; align priorities to product lifecycle.
- Generate and publish evidence to support scientific messages, fill data gaps, strengthen clinical position vs competitors, and demonstrate clinical value.
- Review/approve US Marketing promotional materials; communicate complex ideas and address objections.
- Engage in non-promotional, truthful, and non-misleading communications with KOLs.
- Serve as MRC Core Member (review/vote) and MRC Material Owner (lead development/submit medical communications).
- Exchange appropriate information with HQ Commercial to enable independent roles.
- Present to Formulary Committees/Decision Makers; interact with senior leaders.
- Respond to requests for pipeline presentations.
- Engage in medical communications with patients and patient organizations.
- Present research findings at congresses/scientific meetings; staff medical information/medical affairs booths as needed.
- Participate in promotional-standard-governed activities when appropriate.
- Lead development of reactive medical communications (Standard Response Letters).
- Provide internal training using MRC/VMap-approved materials as appropriate.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years pharmaceutical/biotech/clinical experience; MD highly preferred; pain management required.
- Knowledge of US Pain MPL roles, clinical trials, SOPs, HCP interaction standards, and relevant promotional laws/codes (PhRMA, ACCME) and ethics.
- Ability to build/manage KOL and stakeholder relationships; strong analytics and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify stakeholder insights and implications.
- Accountability, goal-setting, motivation, comfort with change; embrace DEI.
Preferred:
- Reside within/near designated territory.
Other Requirements:
- US Remote; extensive travel 50%β80% (may change).
- Proficiency in English (speaking/reading/writing).
Compensation:
- Salary range: $112,000β$236,000 USD (varies by skills, experience, location).
