Role Summary
The Director, Finance - Technical Operations leads the development and execution of processes to deliver performance-based analytics for the Technical Operations organization. Responsibilities include establishing a product costing platform to support strategic planning, standard costing, and the annual business planning cycle, and overseeing cost accounting for inventory and manufacturing operations across commercial and clinical programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strong business partner relationship with Manufacturing, QA, QC, and Process Development functions.
- Develop a financial performance management platform for the Technical Operations Organization.
- Manage the Inventory and Manufacturing Finance Costing Team.
- Lead and complete the monthly accounting close process related to inventory, manufacturing, and clinical trials, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Analyze and validate all inventory transactions in Oracle.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a standard cost accounting process for manufacturing, including periodic cost studies and investigating variances.
- Work with third-party vendors to ensure accurate monthly reports.
- Develop and maintain an inventory cycle counting process.
- Provide business analysis, forecasting, and budgeting in partnership with FP&A, including recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain and improve internal accounting controls related to inventory and manufacturing.
- Work within Oracle ERP and Oracle Process Manufacturing, leading expansions as needed.
- Lead internal and external reporting, including monthly reporting and SEC quarterly reporting; assist in external audits.
- Develop monthly inventory reports for Finance leadership and business partners.
- Develop monthly flux analytics to support SEC filings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in accounting/finance or similar.
- 12–15 years of experience in manufacturing, inventory/finance roles with increasing responsibility.
- Strong cost accounting background.
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle OPM Financials module.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory, and cost accounting.
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to manufacturing.
- Knowledge of biotechnology/pharmaceutical financial reporting preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills; proficient in Excel-based modeling.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with internal teams and external vendors.
- Strong managerial skills with the ability to mentor staff.
- Understanding of SOX controls and internal control evaluation.
