Director, Field Strategy (Commercial Effectiveness)
Responsibilities:
- Shape field organization strategy through commercial planning, field force optimization, go-to-market model, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Act as liaison between field teams and Global Program Teams; ensure commercial strategies are informed by field insights.
- Lead development/evolution of field force size and structure strategies, including geographic optimization, call planning, targeting, and executive recommendations.
- Ensure strategy/structure is pulled through operationally and exists in systems, enablement, and execution.
- Partner with Field Reporting and Analytics to translate performance into strategic insights; identify opportunities and recommend actions to improve execution.
- Integrate reporting and analytics into field initiatives to support priorities and field effectiveness objectives.
- Develop executive-ready recommendations, business cases, and change management strategies for commercial initiatives.
- Identify field gaps/needs and plans to leverage AI as a solution.
- Advise field sales leadership on strategic priorities, operational processes, and organizational changes; drive alignment and feedback.
- Influence design/usability/adoption of field tools, reports, and resources.
- Lead cross-functional planning to develop communication strategies for initiatives and field engagement.
- Conduct strategic business assessments aligned to leadership priorities; align SMEs and drive actionable recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree; 10+ years progressive pharmaceutical commercial experience (sales, commercial strategy/ops, leadership, marketing, market access, or commercial excellence) or equivalent combination of education/training/experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial strategy with field force effectiveness, targeting, segmentation, call planning, or territory design.
- Proven stakeholder influence in a matrixed organization; ability to interface with Executive Leadership.
- Consultative leadership; experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to translate analytics into actionable insights.
- Experience with business planning, organizational change, and communication strategies.
- Strong commercial acumen and executive communication/presentation skills.
Nice to Have:
- Product launch/growth-stage brand experience; rare/specialty disease environment.
- CRM platforms, commercial analytics, field force automation; field force sizing/territory alignment.
- 5+ years leading/managing field-based or commercial teams.
