About the Role
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to drive external scientific engagement with KOLs, HCPs, and healthcare entities aligned to US Medical priorities.
- Communicate expectations and hold MSLs accountable for performance (goal achievement, competency proficiency, territory plan creation/execution, insights reporting, training/administrative completion, congress participation).
- Develop and implement annual team tactical plans after internal approvals.
- Observe MSL external engagements (in-person/virtual) and monitor documentation.
- Maintain proficiency in Takeda systems to support coaching.
- Plan and execute MSL participation in professional meetings (congresses).
- Build a collaborative, high-performing team culture; ensure individual development plans.
- Create team reports (performance and KOL/HCP insights) to guide US Medical decisions.
- Build relationships with US Medical and cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Provide therapeutic area scientific expertise and training; ensure up-to-date, accurate scientific communication.
- Provide compliance/ethics guidance; ensure adherence to policies/SOPs/regulations.
- Oversee annual team budget cycle.
- Engage in scientific discussions and document per SOPs.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Preferred: Doctoral degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent). Minimum: Masterβs in health sciences (MSN/NP/PA).
- Pharmaceutical industry & Medical Affairs experience.
- Proven strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management; ability to manage/lead/mentor.
- Extensive MSL (or similar) experience.
- Strong written/verbal communication, organization, collaboration.
- Digital tools proficiency; openness to AI-enabled processes.
- Understanding of compliance/ethical/legal/regulatory guidelines.
- Experience managing field-based teams; in-depth therapeutic area knowledge.
- 18+ with valid driverβs license and acceptable driving record.
- 40β60% travel; live in the West Region.
- Authorized and able to drive a company leased vehicle or rental.
