Director, Field Medical β Rheumatology, West (US Medical)
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs); ensure scientific/operational excellence via hiring, training, and execution of the medical plan.
- Communicate and hold MSLs accountable for performance expectations (goal achievement, competencies, territory planning/execution, insights reporting, training/admin completion, congress participation).
- Develop and implement annual tactical plan (after required internal approvals).
- Observe and monitor MSL external scientific engagement (in-person/virtual) and documentation.
- Maintain proficiency with Takeda systems to coach performance.
- Plan and manage MSL participation in professional meetings/congresses.
- Build a high-performing culture; ensure individual development plans and learning/growth support.
- Produce team reports (performance and KOL/HCP insights) to inform US Medical strategy/tactics.
- Build relationships with US Medical and cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Maintain therapeutic area expertise and provide scientific training/guidance.
- Provide compliance/ethics guidance to ensure adherence to policies, SOPs, regulations, guidance, and ethical standards.
- Oversee annual team budget cycle and ensure expenditures align to budget/policies.
- Engage in scientific discussions with KOLs/HCPs as needed; document per SOPs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Masterβs degree in health sciences (MSN/NP/PA) (PharmD/MD/PhD preferred).
- Medical Affairs/pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Proven strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, and project management; extensive MSL/similar role experience.
- Strong written/verbal communication, organization, collaboration.
- Digital tools proficiency; comfort with emerging tech/AI-enabled processes.
- Understanding of compliance/ethical/legal/regulatory guidelines.
- Field-based leadership experience with advanced scientific degree.
- Therapeutic area knowledge and relevant scientific/clinical data.
- 18+ with valid driverβs license; acceptable driving record.
- Travel 40β60% (overnight/weekends as needed); must live in West Region.
- Authorization/ability to drive company leased vehicle or rental.
Compensation/Benefits (explicitly stated):
- Base salary range (US): $192,400β$302,390; may be eligible for incentives and benefits (medical/dental/vision, 401(k) match, disability/life, tuition reimbursement, volunteer time off, holidays, well-being), sick time, and paid vacation.
