About the Role
Join Takeda as a Director, Field Medical – Rheumatology, West. Lead, manage, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to drive external scientific engagement with KOLs, HCPs, and healthcare entities aligned to US Medical strategy. Report to the Senior Director, Field Medical.

How you will contribute
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach MSLs; hire, train, and execute the medical plan.
- Set expectations and hold MSLs accountable (goal achievement, competencies, territory plans, insights reporting, training/admin, congresses).
- Develop and implement annual team tactical plan (after internal approvals).
- Observe external scientific engagement (in-person/virtual) and monitor documentation.
- Maintain proficiency with Takeda systems to support coaching.
- Plan and execute MSL participation in professional meetings/congresses.
- Build a high-performing culture; ensure individual development plans.
- Create performance and KOL/HCP insight reports to guide US Medical decisions.
- Build relationships with US Medical and cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Maintain therapeutic-area expertise and provide scientific/compliance training.
- Oversee annual budget cycle and ensure expenditures align with policies/SOPs.
- Engage in scientific discussions and ensure appropriate documentation.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Preferred: Doctoral degree (PharmD/MD/PhD or equivalent). Minimum: Master’s in health sciences (e.g., MSN/NP/PA).
- Pharmaceutical industry + Medical Affairs experience; strategic leadership and people-management.
- Extensive MSL (or similar) experience.
- Strong communication, organization, collaboration.
- Digital tools comfort; openness to AI-enabled processes.
- Compliance/ethical/legal/regulatory understanding.
- Knowledge of therapeutic area and relevant clinical/scientific data.
- 18+ with valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; authorization to drive company leased/rental vehicle.
- Travel 40–60% (overnights/weekends occasionally); must live in the West Region.
