About the Role
Director, Field Medical – Rheumatology, West. Lead, manage, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to drive external scientific engagement with KOLs, HCPs, and healthcare entities aligned to US Medical priorities. Report to the Senior Director, Field Medical.

How you will contribute
- Lead/mentor/coaching of MSL team; ensure scientific and operational excellence via hiring, training, and execution of the medical plan.
- Set and communicate performance expectations; hold MSLs accountable for goal achievement, competencies, territory plan execution, insights reporting, training/admin completion, and congress participation.
- Develop and implement annual team tactical plan (after approvals); conduct engagement observations and documentation monitoring.
- Maintain proficiency with Takeda systems for coaching; develop/execute MSL participation plan for professional meetings.
- Build high-performing culture; ensure individual development plans.
- Create performance and KOL/HCP insights reports to guide US Medical decisions.
- Maintain relationships with US Medical and cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Provide therapeutic area scientific expertise, training, compliance/ethical guidance, and ensure adherence to policies/SOPs/regulations.
- Oversee team annual budget cycle.
- Engage in scientific discussions and ensure proper documentation.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Master’s in health sciences (e.g., MSN/NP/PA) required; Doctoral degree preferred (PharmD/MD/PhD).
- Pharmaceutical industry + Medical Affairs experience.
- Proven strategic leadership, project management, and ability to lead/mentor teams.
- Extensive MSL (or similar) experience; strong communication, organization, collaboration.
- Digital tools/technologies aptitude; comfort with emerging tools and AI-enabled processes.
- Demonstrated compliance knowledge.
- Therapeutic area knowledge with relevant scientific/clinical data.
- 18+ with valid driver’s license and acceptable record; must live in West Region; travel 40–60%.
- Authorization to drive company leased vehicle or rental.
