How you will contribute
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs); hire, train, and ensure execution of the medical plan to maximize performance and align to US Medical priorities.
- Communicate and hold MSLs accountable for performance expectations (goal achievement, competencies, territory plan creation/execution, insights reporting, training/administrative duties, congress participation, etc.).
- Develop and implement the annual team tactical plan (after required internal approvals).
- Observe external scientific engagement (in-person/virtual) and monitor documentation.
- Maintain proficiency using Takeda systems to support coaching and employee performance.
- Develop and execute MSL participation plans for professional meetings/congresses.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture; ensure individual development plans and learning/growth opportunities.
- Create team reports (performance and KOL/HCP insights) to inform US Medical strategy and execution.
- Build and maintain relationships with US Medical and cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Maintain therapeutic area scientific expertise; provide scientific training and guidance to ensure accurate, up-to-date information.
- Provide compliance/ethics guidance and ensure adherence to policies, SOPs, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Oversee the annual team budget cycle and manage expenditures within budget and aligned to policies/SOPs.
- Engage in scientific discussions as needed and document per SOPs.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Master’s degree in health sciences (e.g., MSN, NP, PA); doctoral degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) preferred.
- Pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs experience.
- Strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management; ability to manage/lead/mentor teams.
- Extensive MSL or similar scientific role experience.
- Strong written/verbal communication, organization, collaboration.
- Digital tools/technology foundation; comfort with emerging technologies and AI-enabled processes.
- Understanding of compliance, ethical, legal, and regulatory guidelines.
- Experience managing field-based teams.
- In-depth therapeutic area knowledge and relevant scientific/clinical data.
- 18+ with valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; authorization to drive a company leased vehicle or rental.
- Travel 40–60% (overnight; occasional weekends); must live in the East Region.
