How you will contribute
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to maximize performance and align activities to US Medical priorities; ensure scientific and operational excellence through hiring, training, and execution of the medical plan.
- Communicate and hold MSLs accountable for performance expectations (goal achievement, competencies, territory plan creation/execution, insights reporting, training/admin completion, congress participation).
- Develop and implement annual team tactical plan (after internal approvals).
- Conduct observations of MSL external engagement (in-person/virtual) and monitor documentation.
- Maintain proficiency using Takeda systems to support coaching.
- Develop and execute a plan for MSL participation in professional meetings/congresses.
- Build a collaborative, high-performing team culture; ensure individual development plans and learning/growth opportunities.
- Create MSL team reports (performance and KOL/HCP insights) to inform US Medical decision-making and tactics.
- Build/maintain relationships with US Medical and cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Maintain therapeutic-area expertise; provide scientific training and ensure accurate, up-to-date information.
- Provide guidance/training on compliance and ethical considerations; ensure adherence to policies/SOPs/regulations/ethical standards.
- Oversee the annual team budget cycle and manage expenditures within budget.
- Engage in scientific discussions as needed and document per SOPs/guidance.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Masterβs degree in health sciences (e.g., MSN, NP, or PA) minimum; doctoral degree preferred (PharmD/MD/PhD or equivalent).
- Strong understanding/experience in pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs.
- Strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, and project management; ability to manage/lead/mentor.
- Extensive MSL or similar scientific experience.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Strong digital tools foundation; comfort with emerging technologies and openness to AI-enabled processes.
- Knowledge of compliance, ethical, legal, and regulatory guidelines.
- Experience managing field-based teams with an advanced scientific degree.
- In-depth therapeutic area knowledge and relevant scientific/clinical data.
- 18+ years old; valid driverβs license and acceptable driving record.
- Travel 40β60% (including overnight and occasional weekends); must live in the East Region.
- Authorization and ability to drive a company leased vehicle or rental.
