About the role:
Director, Field Medical β Gastroenterology (West). Lead, manage, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to drive external scientific engagement with KOLs, HCPs, and healthcare entities in alignment with US Medical priorities. Provide leadership and oversight to ensure effective internal/external collaboration and leverage digital tools/technology. Report to the Sr. Director, Field Medical. Field-based; ideal residence: CA, CO, AZ or WA.
How you will contribute:
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach MSLs; ensure scientific/operational excellence.
- Communicate and hold MSLs accountable for performance expectations and territory execution.
- Develop/implement annual tactical plan; conduct engagement observations and documentation monitoring.
- Maintain proficiency in Takeda digital tools/systems (including AI).
- Plan MSL participation in congresses; foster a learning-focused, high-performing culture.
- Create team reports via digital dashboards; advise US Medical on strategies.
- Build relationships with cross-functional partners; participate in internal meetings.
- Maintain therapeutic-area expertise; provide scientific training and compliance/ethics guidance.
- Oversee annual budget cycle; engage in scientific discussions and document per SOPs.
Minimum requirements:
- Required: Masterβs in health sciences (e.g., MSN/NP/PA) (doctoral preferred); pharmaceutical industry + Medical Affairs experience; strategic leadership and ability to manage/mentor; extensive prior MSL/similar experience; strong written/verbal communication; strong digital/technology foundation with openness to AI; understanding of compliance/ethical/legal/regulatory guidelines.
- Desired: experience managing field-based teams; in-depth therapeutic-area knowledge.
Travel: Drive/fly to meetings; up to 40β60%.
