Purpose:
- Manage a team of Manufacturing Professionals assigned to Third Party Manufacture (TPM) contracts for small molecule products; ensure high-quality product is manufactured in compliance with local and international regulations and released/delivered according to forecasts, schedules, and planned costs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead AbbVie TPM Account Managers to negotiate manufacturing service agreements and amendments; ensure compliance and effective planning/material procurement to supply required materials to TPMs.
- Ensure global logistics support all phases of manufacturing agreements in line with Purchasing and Supplier quality expectations.
- Ensure timely communication to TPMs on product forecasts, manufacturing, and delivery schedules.
- Lead development of the Financial Operating Plan, updates, LRP, and standard processes to meet financial goals.
- Monitor manufacturing performance; apply performance metrics and align work processes/standards with AbbVie quality expectations.
- Coordinate with internal functional partners to ensure TPMs have required quality systems/documentation for regulatory requirements; coordinate with QA for annual quality management review and periodic TPM audits; ensure deviations are investigated and product disposition decisions are timely.
- Lead performance improvement culture/programs across TPMs; guide account managers to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coach managers; set clear expectations for responsibilities, goals, and behaviors; model and champion AbbVie performance and talent management practices.
- Coordinate routine management reviews and provide ongoing communication on TPM performance, issues, actions, and improvements.
- Represent Manufacturing with internal Brand Teams; manage staff through hiring, performance management, talent development, and setting clear expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a technical field; Master’s/Doctorate strongly preferred.
- 15+ years’ experience, including individual contributor work building technical expertise and proven project management skills.
- Progressively increased responsibility as supervisor/department manager/leader of diverse Operations teams (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering).
- Business acumen and functional leadership experience for effectiveness and high performance in a complex operation.
