Director, Employee Relations and Workplace Effectiveness

Role: Director of Employee Relations and Workplace Effectiveness, leading efforts to foster a positive, inclusive, and compliant work environment within a clinical-stage biopharma focused on rare diseases like PBH, Wolfram syndrome, and ALS. Responsibilities: serve as subject matter expert on employee relations, conduct workplace investigations, advise on performance management and conflict resolution; partner with HR and legal teams; develop manager coaching programs; enhance organizational culture and effectiveness; ensure compliance with employment laws; analyze workforce data for insights; and support training initiatives. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years in HR supporting employee relations and investigations, with proven experience conducting complex workplace investigations; strong knowledge of U.S. employment law; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to travel within the U.S. for investigations. Preferred: biotech or life sciences sector experience, especially in regulated environments. High-Value: experience with multi-state employment issues, investigations, and HR policy development; ability to operate in a growing, evolving organization. Work setup: Remote within the U.S. with travel to Cambridge, MA a few times annually; includes considerations for privacy and reliable tech infrastructure.
