Director, Corporate Counsel (Privacy Counsel: Digital Cyber AI)

- Sleepy Hollow, NY or Cambridge, MA (4 days/week onsite; not hybrid or fully remote)
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess privacy risks for innovative initiatives and develop controls, training, and guidance to support regulatory compliance.
- Provide legal advice on cybersecurity and information incidents; support preparation for and response to incidents, including managing the incident response process.
- Provide legal guidance at the intersection of privacy and AI adoption, including participation in AI use case assessments.
- Draft privacy-related policies, procedures, and guidance in partnership with Law Department colleagues and Digital/IT and business functions.
- Monitor US and global developments (legislation and industry practices) and operationalize compliance with laws such as CCPA/CPRA and the NIS2 Directive.
- Advise on compliance solutions for biometric and other emerging data-related laws.
- Represent the Privacy Office on technology-related committees and working groups.
- Partner with Privacy Office colleagues to implement and advance the Regeneron Privacy Program.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- JD required.
- Licensed to practice law in New York State or eligible for licensure as a registered in-house counsel.
- At least 12 years of legal experience (law firm and/or in-house), including at least 5 years of directly relevant experience.
- Biotechnology/pharmaceutical/related life science experience strongly preferred.
Required/Preferred Skills:
- Strong knowledge of local and global privacy, cybersecurity, and AI laws; familiarity with risk management frameworks/standards (e.g., NIST).
- Strong relationship-building skills; ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills; ability to translate complex legal analysis into practical guidance.
- Business acumen and influencing skills; ability to drive change.
- Willingness to take a leadership role in a dynamic field.
- Privacy-enhancing technologies experience is a plus.
