Role Summary
Director, Portfolio Management within the Advanced Cell Systems (ACS) Business Unit responsible for shaping and executing a portfolio strategy across RUO Proteins, Small Molecules, and other ACS product categories to maximize long-term value and align with business goals, customer needs, and operations. Strategic and process-oriented leader who collaborates across teams.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Product Life Cycle Management
- Define and execute a structured lifecycle management strategy, including product maturity models and end-of-life strategies to maximize long-term portfolio value.
- Drive analysis and recommendations to inform product evolution and differentiation, including discontinuations vs. next-generation planning based on new applications or market areas.
- Champion the use of data to identify value inflection points such as competitive landscape changes and emerging customer needs.
- Portfolio Governance and Optimization
- Design and implement scalable portfolio models, product hierarchies, standardized data structures, and value-based portfolio segmentation for high growth end markets.
- Partner with product management, commercial, and finance to establish dynamic pricing strategies for continuous value optimization.
- Oversee pricing controls, including discount governance and profitability frameworks to ensure pricing consistency and margin integrity across SKUs.
- Integrated Business Planning and Operational Alignment
- Represent the portfolio within SIOP with accurate demand planning inputs including MSAs, end-of-life planning and transition timelines, multi-lot strategies, and alignment between product plans and operations.
- NPI Phase-Gate Process
- Co-lead the NPI phase-gate process with R&D, Program Management, Marketing, Operations, and Quality to ensure cross-functional alignment on new product development and launch.
- Identify and improve time-to-market through streamlined launch processes and continuous improvement of phase-gate effectiveness.
- Serve as a key integrator between end market strategy PM teams and NPI execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Business, Life Science, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in portfolio or product management, preferably in technology, industrial, or life sciences settings.
- Proven experience with NPI phase-gate processes, lifecycle management, and cross-functional program leadership.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable with large data sets and portfolio dashboards.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with ERP, PLM, or portfolio management tools a plus.
