General Summary:
The Director, Commercial Training enhances the skills and knowledge competencies of commercial and other relevant teams by developing and executing training and development strategy to ensure commercial teams are equipped to excel. Works cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and leads a team.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Create a comprehensive learning strategy aligned to teams and organizational goals
- Conduct performance analyses to identify skill/knowledge gaps
- Match appropriate learning solutions to maximize workplace performance
- Conduct training needs assessments and design continuous learning initiatives
- Serve on the relevant leadership team and contribute to strategic decision-making
- Develop and implement the vision and strategy for training and capabilities
- Lead and facilitate Initial Training Class (ITC) and Phase 2 for newly hired members
- Manage training budget (quarterly and annual)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and deliver training
- Lead scientific discussions on product and clinical topics
- Manage and mentor a team and individuals; may have financial and HR responsibilities for assigned staff
Knowledge And Skills:
- Customer-facing experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry
- Experience in training design and development (rare disease preferred)
- Ability to work independently and manage cross-functional projects
- Experience managing and mentoring direct reports
- Instructional design competencies; conduct needs assessment/analysis
- Plan and monitor training projects; assess target audience/learning environment
- Perform job/task/content analysis; write criterion-referenced performance objectives
- Select instructional media; recommend instructional strategies
- Certified in instructional design
Education And Experience:
- Bachelorβs degree in relevant discipline
- Advanced degree in education, instructional design, or related field
- Typically 10 years work experience and 3 years supervisory/management experience (or equivalent)
