Director, Clinical Development AI Partnerships

Role: Director, Clinical Development AI Partnerships, leading external AI innovation efforts to enhance clinical trial design, efficiency, and quality at AbbVie. Responsibilities: identify and evaluate partnership opportunities with AI startups, academia, and tech firms; lead diligence and technical assessments including pilots and benchmarks; develop external deal structures and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, legal, privacy, and governance; build and maintain external relationships to source high-value AI-enabled capabilities; and define operational frameworks for AI external collaborations. Requirements: 10+ years in clinical development, clinical operations, data science, AI strategy, or related life sciences tech roles; bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or similar; familiarity with clinical workflows and AI/ML technologies; experience with external partnership assessments and technical diligence; strong communication and project management skills; ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment. Preferred: experience in biotech/pharma R&D, especially in immunology, oncology, neuroscience; exposure to AI startups or tech companies; knowledge of regulated clinical environments and data privacy.
