Role Summary
Director, Accounting Systems & Consolidation (Hybrid) – hands-on consolidations leader to oversee global close and consolidation, drive accounting system and financial reporting excellence, and partner with IT to maintain key systems (HFM, Oracle EBS, Blackline). Leads a small team to align stakeholders and deliver innovative solutions for consolidation processes and accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Drive process excellence for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close and consolidation process, ensuring timely and accurate financial results with stakeholders across global accounting, tax, treasury, finance, and shared services
- Develop and execute strategy for consolidation initiatives, including intercompany automation, cloud-based applications, and RPA bots
- Partner with IT to maintain and support key accounting systems and applications (HFM, Oracle EBS, Blackline), including change management for upgrades and enhancements
- Collaborate with global partners to formulate enhancement options addressing functional issues/requirements
- Manage and oversee completeness and accuracy of system eliminations for intercompany balance sheet and income statement activity
- Develop and monitor metrics and KPIs that drive best practices
- Assist in development of the overall Accounting Systems roadmap
- Lead a team of 4 professionals; mentor, develop, retain and recruit high-potential talent
Qualifications
- Experience with complex integrated financial reporting systems (HFM, Hyperion ESSbase, Oracle EBS)
- Knowledge of financial consolidation, intercompany and foreign currency translations, eliminations, monthly/quarterly close reporting, general ledgers, hierarchies, and data structures
- Governance and finance system compliance management in line with company policies, standards, and SOX
- Strong systems mindset and understanding of accounting system workflows
- Applied knowledge of financial and US GAAP accounting principles to systems and processes
- Ability to interact with all levels of management to drive collaborative decisions
- Interpersonal and organizational skills, high energy, and strong work ethic
- Ability to anticipate change and respond to priorities with a proactive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication across multiple levels of the organization
- Finance process excellence or Six-Sigma experience is a plus
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting within a large, complex, multinational organization
- Big 4 experience and life science industry experience preferred
- CPA or equivalent certifications desirable
- Demonstrated success in a team-based environment
