Role Description:
- Field-based, customer-facing sales role responsible for selling diagnostic instruments, tests, and related products/services within an assigned US sales territory.
- Build and maintain customer relationships to maximize retention and achieve budgeted sales quotas within targeted accounts.
- Update and maintain sales funnel and customer profile data in the system; collaborate with colleagues to support the diagnostics business.
- Anticipated travel within territory: up to 60%-70%.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain thorough understanding of diagnostic products and services.
- Travel to existing and prospective customers (targeting 3β4 existing customers and 3β4 new opportunities per day); extensive driving and periodic overnight travel (approximately 4β8 nights/month).
- Document all customer/prospect interactions via the online system.
- Transport equipment; lift, set up, and demonstrate diagnostic solutions, equipment, and features.
- Explain uses/benefits and communicate the value proposition; answer questions.
- Secure purchase orders.
- Provide ongoing customer support (in person, phone, and email), make courtesy calls, keep clients informed of new products/services, and coordinate with sales, accounting, and technical staff.
- Work cooperatively with Diagnostic Technical Specials to ensure strong customer service and enhance utilization.
- Generate new business/leads, including competitor placements, academia/research opportunities, and referrals.
- Support billing and collection efforts.
- Ability to safely lift and move 60 lbs.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability Requirements:
- Rapid learning; apply technical information; skilled technical sales capabilities.
- Demonstrate veterinary terminology/science expertise.
- Present at all levels (including financial presentations); quickly transport, set up, and demonstrate equipment.
- Balance strategic/tactical business requirements; understand market trends and sales initiatives.
- Know competition and their value messaging; understand marketplace strategies/tactics.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, time management; multitask and work independently.
- Valid Driverβs License, clean driving record, and auto insurance.
Qualifications (Training, Education, & Prior Experience):
- Minimum 4 years of demonstrated sales experience, or relevant technical/clinical experience (medical/scientific/healthcare preferred).
- Minimum Associate degree (Bachelorβs preferred), preferably with science or business emphasis, or equivalent experience.
Compensation/Benefits (as stated):
- Base salary range: $69,000 - $100,000.
- Eligible for short-term incentive compensation.
- Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare/insurance (beginning day one), 401K with match and profit-sharing, and 4 weeks of vacation.
