Role Description
- Field-based, customer-facing sales role selling diagnostic instruments, tests, and related products/services within an assigned US sales territory.
- Build and maintain customer relationships to maximize customer retention.
- Achieve budgeted sales quotas in targeted accounts.
- Update and maintain sales funnel and customer profile data in the system.
- Collaborate with other colleagues to support the diagnostics business.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain thorough understanding of diagnostic products and services.
- Travel to customer sites (target 3–4 existing customers and 3–4 new business opportunities per day); extensive driving and periodic overnight travel (approximately 4–8 nights/month).
- Document all customer/prospect interactions via the online system.
- Transport equipment to customer locations.
- Lift, set up, and demonstrate diagnostic solutions, equipment, and features.
- Explain uses/benefits and communicate the value proposition; answer questions.
- Secure purchase orders for diagnostic products and services.
- Provide ongoing customer support (in person, phone, email), including courtesy calls; keep clients informed of new products/services and possible instrumentation updates; coordinate with sales, accounting, and technical teams to address customer needs.
- Work with the Diagnostic Technical Specialist to ensure strong customer service and enhance utilization.
- Generate new business/leads (including competitor account placements, academia/research settings, and referrals).
- Support billing and collection efforts.
- Safely lift and move 60 lbs.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 4 years demonstrated sales experience, or relevant technical/clinical experience (medical/scientific/healthcare preferred).
- Minimum Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred); science or business emphasis preferred.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Rapid learning/early adopter mindset.
- Ability to apply technical information and perform technical sales.
- Expertise in veterinary terminology/science.
- Demonstrated ability selling capital equipment in physician and/or veterinary clinics.
- Skilled at presentations (including financial presentations) and quick setup/demonstration of equipment.
- Understands market trends, competition/value messaging, and marketplace strategies/tactics.
- Strong organization, prioritization, time management; ability to multitask and work independently.
- Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, and auto insurance.
- Must speak fluent English.
Compensation and Benefits
- US base salary range (full-time): $69,000–$100,000.
- Eligible for short-term incentive compensation.
- Benefits include healthcare/insurance beginning on day one, 401K with match and profit-sharing, and 4 weeks of vacation.
