Creative/Hands-on Work (80%)
- Work with Art to produce and present Brave, Authentic, Inspiring ideas and multi-channel tactics
- Lead writer on print, video, and digital projects with minimal supervision
- Ensure copy is clear, powerful, error-free, correctly referenced, and annotated
- Manage and work independently under tight deadlines; juggle multiple projects
- Provide constructive feedback to improve othersβ work
- Contribute to development of brand messages
- Participate in client meetings; attend market research as appropriate
- Participate in MLR reviews as needed; become familiar with positioning and strategic process
- Understand advertising may require extra time/effort to meet client commitments
Management (10%)
- Manage own workload and direct reports to maximize productivity and maintain billable hours; consider freelance financial implications when delegating
- Coordinate with Art, Editorial, Traffic, and Project Management to meet deadlines and budgets
- Proactively seek feedback from supervisor and Creative leaders
- Provide written and face-to-face feedback for annual performance reviews and ongoing feedback
- Interview prospective Copy candidates
Leadership (10%)
- Maintain client relationships; understand brand(s) and marketing challenges; respond to strategic/creative needs
- Represent the agency at client meetings
- Present copy to gain buy-in and negotiate changes
- Train and mentor supervised copywriters
Qualifications
- 5β7+ years pharmaceutical advertising agency experience
- BS or BA degree
- Proven creative ability/judgment; successful client contact; collaboration with Art and Account; good presentation skills
- Strong interest in science and healthcare; understanding of MLR review processes; strong copywriting skills across media
- Plus (not required): neuroscience, human anatomy, physician-administered treatment
