Responsibilities
- Responsible for copy development and oversight on assigned brand; works with Editorial, Art, and Account partners to ensure client satisfaction.
- Primarily (90%) HCP-facing communications.
Creative/Hands-on (80%)
- Partner with Art to develop and present brave, authentic, inspiring ideas and multi-channel tactics.
- Lead writer on print, video, and digital projects with minimal supervision.
- Ensure copy is clear, powerful, error-free, and correctly referenced/annotated.
- Manage multiple projects independently under tight deadlines.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve othersβ work.
- Contribute to development of brand messages.
- Participate in client meetings; participate in MLR reviews as needed; attend market research as appropriate.
- Develop familiarity with positioning and strategic process; understand advertising requires extra time/effort to meet commitments.
Management (10%)
- Manage own workload and direct reports to maximize productivity and maintain billable hours; consider freelance costs when delegating.
- Coordinate with Art, Editorial, Traffic, and Project Management to stay on track with deadlines and budgets.
- Seek feedback from supervisor and Creative leaders.
- Provide written and face-to-face feedback for annual and ongoing performance reviews.
- Interview prospective copy candidates.
Leadership (10%)
- Maintain client relationships; understand brand(s) and marketing challenges and respond to strategic/creative needs.
- Represent the agency at client meetings; present copy to gain buy-in and negotiate changes.
- Train and mentor supervised copywriters.
Qualifications
- 5β7+ yearsβ pharmaceutical advertising agency experience.
- BS or BA degree.
- Proven creative ability and judgment; successful client contact experience.
- Collaborates successfully with Art and Account; strong presentation skills.
- Strong interest in science and healthcare; understanding of MLR review processes and requirements.
- Strong copywriting skills in all media.
- Plus (not required): neuroscience, human anatomy, physician-administered treatment.
